Hosted at the stunning Driskell, a historic mansion-turned-event-space in downtown Mobile, this intimate gathering felt like something out of a dream — eclectic, elegant, and effortlessly personal.
Brandi and Dawn, an LGBTQIA+ couple with a love story that speaks volumes, actually own their own wedding venue in Mississippi. So when it came time to plan their own celebration, they knew exactly what mattered: authenticity, comfort, and community. Surrounded by their closest family and friends, they shared their vows in a relaxed, backyard-style ceremony that felt more like a family reunion than a formal event — the best kind of wedding, if you ask me.
After a quick consultation, Brandi and Dawn told me they felt instantly at home — and I felt the same photographing their day. The Driskell’s layered vintage decor and cozy nooks were the perfect backdrop for spontaneous moments, like the couple lounging in a clawfoot tub together, sunglasses on, joy radiating – or a fun and laughter filled pillow fight complete with jumping on the bed. It was clear from the beginning that this wedding wasn’t about putting on a show — it was about preserving their love exactly as it is.
